Property Description

The only mint in America to serve both U.S. and Confederate treasuries, this Greek Revival masterpiece was built in 1835 during Andrew Jackson's presidency. Today, the Mint houses the Louisiana State Museum's world-famous jazz collection. Severely damaged during Hurricane Katrina, renovations are underway to create a new museum and performance space as part of the federal New Orleans Jazz Historical Park. Meanwhile, check local calendars for temporary exhibits and events at the Mint.
