Louisiana Insider’s Weekend Sweepstakes Rules

The Louisiana Insider’s Weekend Sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the United States and Canada (except where prohibited by law). No purchase necessary to enter. Winner must be 21 years of age or older.

1) How to Enter:

To enter, you must use an Internet browser to complete the official online entry form and must have Internet access as of September 15, 2008. Participants are encouraged to read these rules and the instructions on the entry page. Participants must complete the official entry form by filling out the required fields on the intake form, including but not limited to full legal name (first and last name), primary residence address, zip code, and email address. Participants must then click on the "Enter to Win" button to be entered into the contest. By clicking “Enter to Win,” the entrants agree that they have read, understand and will abide and adhere to the terms and conditions put forth in these Contest Rules. Clicking “Enter to Win” will be deemed as acceptance of these Contest Rules.

The Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, The Louisiana Office of Tourism and the World Cultural Economic Forum reserve the right to reject any entry and are under no obligation to disclose the reason(s), if any, for such a rejection.

There will be only one entry made per person. Multiple entries by the same person may result in disqualification of all such entries.

Participants will not tamper, copy, modify, or corrupt the administration, security, or proper function of any part of The Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, The Louisiana Office of Tourism and the World Cultural Economic Forum websites. Entries generated by robots or scripts are considered to be a direct violation of contest policy and will result in immediate disqualification of any and all associated entries. Internet access and usage charges applicable to your account including local, long distance, and toll-free prefix access charge to reach your Internet Service Provider, any usage charges applicable under your pricing plan and any applicable taxes will continue to apply while you are online in connection with this contest.

The Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, The Louisiana Office of Tourism and the World Cultural Economic Forum are not responsible for telephone, network, electronic, or computer failures of any kind, or for entries that are stolen, misdirected, incomplete, garbled, delayed by computer transmissions, lost, late, damaged, or ineligible, or for third-party prizes that are not provided according to contract.

2) Sweepstakes Prizes:

There will be a drawing for one Grand Prize, which will be for all of the following:

A.)    Two-night hotel stay at Harrah’s New Orleans Hotel & Casino
B.)    Two tickets for April 25-26 to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival sponsored by Shell, including VIP Backstage access to the Congo Square “My Louisiana” stage.
C.)    Dinners for two at Besh Steak and Restaurant Lüke – both restaurants of Chef John Besh
D.)    Tickets for two to the Audubon Institute’s Aquarium of the Americas and the newly opened Insectarium

Drawing will occur on November 14, 2008.

The winner will be responsible for all expenses not specifically provided for including, but not limited to, transportation, transfers, taxes, insurance, gratuities, as well as any and all incidentals. The winner will be responsible for making and confirming reservations for hotel nights, dinners and attractions as directed in award letter and supplied vouchers.

Estimated Retail Value of Grand Prize: (USD) $1,540

Prizes shall be announced no later than December 1, 2008.

All trademarks, service marks, and trade names are proprietary to respective owners.

3) Winner Selection:

All entries become the property of the The Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, The Louisiana Office of Tourism and the World Cultural Economic Forum, and will not be acknowledged or returned. The Contest Period begins 12:01 A.M. (all times Central Time) on September 15, 2008, and ends on 11:59 P.M. November 9, 2008. To be eligible to win the grand prize, online entries must be received by 11:59 P.M. on November 9, 2008. One (1) Grand Prize Winner for the Louisiana Insider’s Sweepstakes will be chosen in a random drawing from all eligible entries on November 14, 2008.

Winner will be notified by December 1, 2008. Winner and his/her travel companion (who both must be 21 years of age or older) will each be required to complete, execute, and notarize all sweepstakes affidavits – including eligibility and release forms, which will be sent to the winner within five (5) days of notification. If any prize notification or any prize is returned as undeliverable, the prize may be awarded to an alternate winner from the pool of eligible entries. If a selected entrant is a Canadian resident, he/she will also have to correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question or he/she is disqualified and forfeits the prize.

The Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, The Louisiana Office of Tourism and the World Cultural Economic Forum may substitute a prize or prizes due to unavailability, in which case a prize(s) of equal or greater value will be awarded.

All prize(s) awarded are otherwise not transferable or redeemable for cash, can only be claimed by the individual who submitted the winning entry, and must be accepted as awarded.

In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted the online entry, the entry shall be deemed submitted by the Authorized Holder (as defined below) of the email account. Winner may be requested to provide the Louisiana Office of Tourism with proof that such person is the Authorized Holder (as defined below) of the email address associated with the winning entry. "Authorized Holder" shall mean the natural person assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.).


Prize recipient agrees to execute required affidavit of eligibility and liability and publicity release in order to receive his/her prize. Prize will be awarded within approximately 25 days of drawing once Eligibility Certificate and Release Forms are received. All taxes on prize including income taxes and any incidental expenses associated with collection of a prize are the responsibility of the winner. Winner assumes all liability for any damages arising from participation in the Sweepstakes or from any prize awarded hereunder and releases the The Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, The Louisiana Office of Tourism and the World Cultural Economic Forum from any such liability. Acceptance of prize constitutes permission (except where prohibited by law) to use winner's name, city, state, comments, likeness and/or voice for purposes of advertising, promotion and publicity without additional compensation.

4) General Conditions:

The total number and quality of entries received in the Sweepstakes Period determines odds of winning the grand prize. Louisiana Office of Tourism, 1051 N. Third Street, Capitol Annex Building, Baton Rouge, LA 70802, will operate the giveaway. Employees of the Louisiana Office of Tourism, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Shell Oil, Harrah’s New Orleans Hotel & Casino, their affiliates, subsidiaries, and advertising agencies, and members of the immediate families of each are not eligible.

All federal, state, provincial, and local laws and regulations apply, and the promotion is subject to the laws of the United States and Canada. Entries are void in any jurisdiction where participation is prohibited. In the event this sweepstakes is compromised in any way, electronically or otherwise, that is beyond the control of The Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, The Louisiana Office of Tourism and the World Cultural Economic Forum, all entities reserve the right to reject any entry, reserve the right to withdraw the transmission of this sweepstakes and award the remaining prize among entries received prior to the date of the withdrawal. Entrants agree to abide by these Official Rules and by the decisions of the judging parties and The Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, The Louisiana Office of Tourism and the World Cultural Economic Forum.  Decisions of the judging parties are final. Failure to comply with these rules may result in disqualification from this sweepstakes promotion. The Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, The Louisiana Office of Tourism and the World Cultural Economic Forum reserve the right to permanently disqualify from any sweepstakes promotion any person believed to have intentionally violated these rules.

Participants release The Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, The Louisiana Office of Tourism and the World Cultural Economic Forum, and affiliated companies, divisions, parent companies, officers, directors, employees, agents and advertising agencies and all others associated with the development and execution of the Contest, from and against any and all liability with respect to or in any way arising from this Contest and the awarding and use of the prize, including without limitation liability for death, personal injury and/or disability.

5) Entire Agreement Clause

This (1) document, together with (2) any addenda referenced in this document and issued by the Department, and (3) any exhibits specifically incorporated herein by reference, constitute the entire rules agreement between the parties with respect to this contest.

6) Announcement of Winner

For the name of the prize winner (available within 30 days of the date of the determination of the winner) send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Louisiana Office of Tourism, Louisiana Insider’s Sweepstakes Winner’s List, P.O.
